Learned shoemaking trade in German before he immigrated at age 18.
(1854?) Stayed in NYC until 1868 when he moved to Ashland County, OH
where he stayed 3 years (1868-71). Moved to Windsor, Richland County
for 6 years, back to Ashland County for "a short time," and then to
Rome, Richland County, where he made shoes, boots, and ran a notions
store. Died of a cerebral hemorhage. Buried at Greenlawn cemetery.
